Frode Andresen, an Olympic gold medalist in Biathlon, likes to be in the lead when it comes to new equipment. Now he opens the airways in his nose with a new invention.

The Biathlete from Hønefoss, Norway, likes to adjust sight, technique, weapon and other equipment they can improve his performance on the track. He introduced the invention at the Biathlon World Cup opening.

Frode favors the metal device that opens the nostrils optimally - from the inside.

I call it the "Maranata", says Frode to Norwegian Telegram Bureau, and smiles.

With his nostrils wide open, he able breath more air than the competitors.

"It feels like this invention is useful", he says. "It is a veterinarian I know who has constructed the 'nose opener'", he explains.

With the device in his nose, hopefully, more air will be inhaled and more red blood cells will increase the muscle capacity.

*Note from Dr. Braathen: "Remember that Frode needs less air for the same production of oxyhemoglobin in his blood because the air he inhales is temerated by passing the bloodrich varming nose so the enzymes converting the air oxygen to oxyhemoglobin in the bloodstream works more effectively."
